WooCommerce and ChatGPT: Which Plugin or Tool Actually Helps?

An honest comparison of the ways to get WooCommerce products recommended by ChatGPT: free fixes, SEO plugins, feed plugins, AI writers and Pickastor.

Search for "WooCommerce ChatGPT plugin" and you'll find a dozen tools that all promise the same thing: get your products recommended by ChatGPT. They don't all do the same job. Some fix whether AI can reach your store, some fix the data on your product pages, some send a feed, and some rewrite your product text.

This guide sorts them by what they actually fix, so you can pick the one that matches your store's real gap. A note up front: we make Pickastor, one of the tools below. We've tried to describe every option the way we'd describe it to a friend, including where something else is the better choice.

First: what ChatGPT needs from your store

When someone asks ChatGPT, Google AI Mode or Perplexity what to buy, the AI names a few products from a few shops. To name yours, it needs four things:

  1. 1Access. Its crawlers can reach your pages (robots.txt and your firewall don't block them)
  2. 2Readable facts. Each product page carries product data AI can read: name, price, stock, brand (Schema.org markup, usually added by WooCommerce or an SEO plugin)
  3. 3Words that match the question. A clear product name and a description that says what the product is, who it's for and what it fits
  4. 4A feed (optional but useful). Your whole catalogue in one file that shopping platforms can read

When we checked 620 UK WooCommerce stores in October 2026, the gaps were spread across all four. 22.6% had no readable product data on any page we opened, 44.2% had thin descriptions on at least 15% of their products, and 47.7% of all products had no short description. The full numbers are in our WooCommerce guide.

So the right tool depends on which of the four is your problem. Here's how the options line up.

The options at a glance

| Option | Fixes | Effort | Cost | |---|---|---|---| | Free checks, no plugin | Access, and finds data gaps | An afternoon | Free | | SEO plugin (Yoast, Rank Math) | Readable facts, meta descriptions | Settings plus templates | Free tiers; paid add-ons | | Feed plugin (Google for WooCommerce, CTX Feed, AdTribes, RexFeed) | Feed | Set up once | Free tiers; paid plans | | Dedicated "ChatGPT feed" plugin | Feed (ChatGPT format) | Set up once | Mostly free | | AI writing tool (ChatGPT itself, Hypotenuse, Describely) | Words | Per product, by hand or in batches | Monthly subscription | | Pickastor | Words, plus a feed | Connect, review, push | Free for 10 products, then one-time |

Option 1: The free checks (do these first)

Before installing anything, spend an afternoon on two checks. They cost nothing and they decide whether anything else can work.

  • Can AI reach your store? Open yourstore.com/robots.txt and make sure it doesn't block OpenAI's crawlers (OAI-SearchBot, GPTBot), PerplexityBot or Googlebot. Then check Cloudflare or your host's firewall: "bot fight" settings often block AI crawlers even when robots.txt allows them
  • Do your product pages carry product data? Paste a product URL into Google's Rich Results Test and look for a "Product" item with a price and availability. WooCommerce normally outputs this by default, so if it's missing, a theme, page builder or plugin is usually removing it

Best for: everyone. Limit: these checks find problems; they don't rewrite anything.

If you'd rather not do it by hand, our free AI Score runs both checks plus a look at your product text, with no signup.

Option 2: An SEO plugin (Yoast or Rank Math)

Yoast SEO and Rank Math are the two big WordPress SEO plugins, with millions of installs between them. For AI shopping, their job is the readable facts layer: they add or extend Schema.org product data, and they give every product a meta description field, with templates so you don't have to write hundreds by hand. Yoast's WooCommerce features come in a paid add-on; Rank Math covers much of it in its free version, with more in Pro.

Best for: stores whose product pages are missing product data or meta descriptions. Limit: they don't write your product names or descriptions. A meta template that pulls in a one-line description still produces a one-line meta description.

Option 3: A feed plugin

A product feed hands your whole catalogue to shopping platforms in one file. The official, free starting point is Google for WooCommerce, which connects your store to Google Merchant Center (Google Shopping and Google's AI features). Popular general feed plugins such as CTX Feed, Product Feed PRO by AdTribes and RexFeed (each with tens of thousands of installs on WordPress.org) have added OpenAI or ChatGPT feed formats alongside Google, Meta and the rest. Check which plan includes the ChatGPT format before you rely on it.

For ChatGPT itself, OpenAI has a way for merchants to share product feeds; check chatgpt.com/merchants for the current status in your country.

Best for: stores whose product data is already good and who want it everywhere. Limit: a feed copies your existing data. If your names are stock codes and your descriptions are one line, the feed delivers that same weak data, faster.

Option 4: A dedicated "ChatGPT feed" plugin

Since late 2025 a handful of small plugins have appeared that do one thing: build a feed in the format ChatGPT reads (for example WisdmLabs' Product Feed for ChatGPT, and several "Agentic Commerce" plugins). They're mostly free and quick to set up.

Best for: trying the ChatGPT feed format without changing your main feed setup. Limit: same as any feed, plus most are very new with few installs, so check when each was last updated. If you already use one of the big feed plugins above, its ChatGPT format probably covers this.

Option 5: An AI writing tool

General AI writers (ChatGPT itself, or product-description tools such as Hypotenuse AI and Describely) fix the words layer: they turn a stock-code name and two lines of text into a proper product description. Some connect to WooCommerce for bulk updates; with others you copy and paste.

Best for: stores with a small number of products, or a person with time to prompt, check and paste. Limit: the time scales with your catalogue, and you still have to write the short description, tags and attributes and get them back into WooCommerce. Most are monthly subscriptions, so you keep paying after the rewrite is done.

Option 6: Pickastor

Pickastor is built for the words layer at catalogue scale, on WooCommerce specifically. You connect your store with a WooCommerce API key (no plugin to install), pick the products, and Pickastor rewrites each one: a clearer name, a detailed description, a short description, tags, product attributes and the natural phrases shoppers type. You see every change side by side, nothing changes until you approve it, and one click pushes the approved products back to your store. It also publishes an AI product feed (XML in Google Merchant Center format, plus JSON) with everything you've optimized.

What it doesn't do: it doesn't add Schema.org markup to your pages, change robots.txt, or edit alt text, brands, reviews or barcodes. Those stay with the free checks and your SEO plugin.

Pricing is one-time by product count, no subscription: the first 10 products are free, then from €69 for 25 products down to €0.20 per product on larger packs. See pricing.

Best for: stores with dozens to thousands of products where the descriptions, names and short descriptions are the gap. Limit: if your text is already strong and only the page data or the feed is missing, an SEO or feed plugin is the cheaper fix.

Which one should you pick?

Match the tool to the gap, not the marketing:

  • AI can't reach your store (blocked crawlers, firewall): no tool needed, fix the settings
  • Product pages have no readable product data: fix your theme or plugins, or use an SEO plugin
  • No meta descriptions: SEO plugin with templates
  • Good product data, no feed: Google for WooCommerce, plus a feed plugin with a ChatGPT format if you want one
  • Thin descriptions, code names, no short descriptions, across many products: an AI writing tool if you have the time, or Pickastor if you'd rather review than write

Most stores have more than one gap, so the usual order is: free checks first, SEO plugin second, then the text, then the feed. Fixing the text before the feed means the feed carries the good version.

What to expect after any of these

None of these options is an ad. You're making your products easier for AI to read and match; the AI platforms pick up the changes as they recrawl your store, which usually takes weeks, not hours. Nobody can promise a spot in a specific ChatGPT answer, and you should be wary of anyone who does.

The fastest way to see which gap is yours is to check your store: it's free, takes under a minute, and tells you in plain words what's missing.
